From Lukov with Love - Book Review

Writer's picture: Vanessa AlcaldeVanessa Alcalde

Jasmine Santos hates Ivan Lukov because he is the best at figure skating and appears arrogant. Although Jasmine knows him from years since Ivan is her best friend's brother, it doesn't mean she has actually met him at a personal level where she was able to see his real personality. Jasmine and Ivan both took me on a journey full of surprises, acceptance, growth, and love.

For me, it was a dread to pick up the book, and it reflects on the time that it took me to finish reading it because I tend to finish reading books in a matter of one week. Nevertheless, I wouldn't classify this book as a romance, Idk I feel like Jasmine had all the attention zoomed into her life and halfway through the book is where the author incorporated Lukov into Jasmines' even though the entire book is basically about how much they hate each other, they often avoid each other and barely exchange conversations.

Jasmine is a strong, bad ass woman who doesn't take shit from anybody and sets her foot down, making her so unique from all the characters. At the same time, Jasmine is excruciating stubborn to the point that it isn't cute or funny lol It was just like 2-3 pages spent going back and forth, which drove me insane and made me dread reading. I would say this book put me in a reading slump and I am happy I finished reading it. When the story got to around 80% I finally saw the light and made me look forward to wanting more from the story. I am still going to read another book by this author because she has crispy jokes and real LOL potential that I def don't want to miss out on.
