I was so confused by this book. Truly. This is my first Nicholas Sparks's book, and I know he's a well-known author, I was taken aback by Dreamland. Still, this doesn't mean I won't be reading other books from him because I will, but in the case of Dreamland, it wasn't it for me. I wanted to DNF it but towards the end, I'd say around 80% it got quite good, with a sudden peak in the story and a big revelation, and that is where my 2 stars are going towards.
I couldn't wrap my head around the idea of this fling between Colby and Morgan as true love, and all the "I love you's" exchanged. In my opinion, I feel there needs to be more backstory or rather a longer connection between both of them, given that they are already polar opposites, the romance could've been believable. I was scratching my brains out, trying to understand why there are two stories that have nothing in common (Colby's and Beverly's), but eventually, it unfolds and the truth is told from Colby's perspective.
The ending felt sped up, and as if the author ran out of time so it felt superficial.
