I needed a reading to make me feel hooked from beginning to end and this was it. Ever since "The Seven Husbands of Hugo" life hasn't been the same for me so I was in search of a story to draw me into each character and Malibu Rising had a combination of family betrayal, single mother, a tie-knot sibling bonding that look out after each other, and love.
The Riva siblings felt so natural and realistic because the problems they faced are more common than most would agree (except being well off in money lol).
Malibu Rising is written in in two POV's, one chronologically coming close to a party and the other one is from back then which helps the reader understand the characters more of their past. At some point, both stories arrive to one but building up to it will leave you wanting more from each page.
Though my rating wasn't 5 stars, I set my expectations to the roof once I fall in love with a book from the same author like "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo", the flow of the story was easy-going but doesn't compare to TSHOEH, but nevertheless, it was so engaging to listen to this audiobook.
